Champions League predictions to Napoli and Genk from Group E

We are heading to the Stadio San Paolo in our Champions League predictions to examine the fixture between Napoli and Genk from Group E.

For Napoli things are pretty simple at the moment. In order to be one hundred percent sure that they will qualify for the 1/8-finals of the competition they must win on Tuesday. Right now the Azzurri are one point behind the leader Napoli and two points ahead of the third Salzburg. A win against Genk will guarantee them a place in the knockout phase.

But the atmosphere in Napoli is not the best one right now. The team is without a win in 9 consecutive games in all competition, which is pretty awful. For a last time Napoli won against Salzburg in the Champions League on October 23. Because of this the manager Carlo Ancelotti is pretty close to losing his job. It won’t be surprising if gets fired even before the game on Tuesday.

During the weekend Napoli didn’t win once again. The Azzurri visited Napoli at the Dacia Arena, but their efforts were enough for just a 1-1 draw. Piotr Zielinski scored Napoli’s only goal after an assist from Dries Mertens.

Meanwhile Genk are 4th in the group with just one point won so far and without any chances to do something more here. The Belgians’ only point so far was won exactly against Napoli – when these two teams met in Genk and the game ended with a 0-0 draw. In all other matches the Belgians suffered defeats, which makes them a solid underdog at the San Paolo on Tuesday.

Will Napoli host Genk with a new head coach at helm? We should wait and see what the club’s board is going to decide about the future of Carlo Ancelotti. But even with a caretaker or a new manager, the Italians will be favourites on Tuesday.
