Espanyol will host Mallorca in Barcelona
Both teams currently in the race for survival will face each other on Sunday in a game from the 23th round of La Liga. Espanyol will host Mallorca in Barcelona and both teams need the points here. Let’s discuss it in our La Liga predictions.
Despite of some better results since the arrival of the new manager Abelardo, Espanyol remain at the last place of La Liga with just 15 points won so far. The Catalans are in a very complicated situation and if they don’t find a way to improve pretty soon, they could find themselves in Segunda next season. They have won just three matches this season, which is really dissapointing.
Last week Los Pericos suffered a 13th loss for the season. Espanyol paid a visit to Granada at the Los Carmenes and got beaten with 1-2. They actually opened the score with a goal from Raul de Tomas, but until the end of the game Granada turned it around in their favour.
Abelardo has some problems before the next game. He can’t use Bernardo Espinosa, Victor Campuzano, Oier and Sebastien Corchia who are all injured.
Mallorca are just one position above the relegation zone at the moment, being 17th with 18 points. The newcomers can’t be sure that they won’t be at the bottom in a week or two, so they need results. They got beaten four times in their last five matches, which is not good for sure.
Last week Mallorca suffered their 14th loss for the season. The team hosted Real Valladolid at home, but the visitors clinched the win with a winning goal from Enes Unal.
The French forward Yannis Salibur is sidelined for Mallorca for the next game. He won’t be on the pitch in Barcelona.
That’s our La Liga predictions for the derby at the bottom between Espanyol and Mallorca on Sunday. Who do you got here?
